By Thomas McNulty Published Vicarious Visions, the developer of the Tony Hawks Pro Skater 1 + 2 remaster, planned to remaster 3 + 4 before the project was cancelled by publisher Activision. Now that the publisher has been acquired by Microsoft, there is a chance that Vicarious Visions will be tasked with the remakes. A Tony Hawks Pro Skater 3 + 4 remaster compilation was apparently in the works, but Activision cancelled the project before it could get rolling. Hawk added that he hopes that Activision Blizzard will eventually find a way to remake Pro Skater 3+4. ![]() Like, ‘What would you do with the Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater title?’ And they didn’t like anything they heard, and then that was it. The truth of it is that were trying to find somebody to do 3+4 but they just didn’t really trust anyone the way they did Vicarious, so they took other pitches from other studios. That was the plan even up until the release day of, we were doing 3+4, and then Vicarious got kind of absorbed, and then they were looking for other developers, and then it was over. As a result, Pro Skater 3+4 got scrapped. Unfortunately, however, Vicarious Visions was absorbed by Blizzard Entertainment in January 2021 shortly after the release of Pro Skater 1+2, losing its status as a primary developer within Activision. The publisher apparently only trusted Vicarious Visions to get the job done right. Around the 02:26:00 mark in the video above (via ResetEra), Hawk says that up until the release of Pro Skater 1+2, Activision had plans for Pro Skater 3+4 remakes. ![]()
